Marcus Garvey called African Americans together with the call for Negro Nationalism which means to glorify black culture/traditions of the past. He also founded the UNIA (universal negro improvement organization). Marcus also wanted to separate from white people. Marcus was famous for calling African Americans together. Langston was studying engineering but dropped out in order to pursue his love for poetry. Langston wrote 850 poems in his lifetime and also wrote novels and plays. His work was so popular he became known as the "Poet Laureate Of Harlem". Langston was famous for being one of the first African American writers. He represents the 1920’s because he was accepted as a writer even though he was African American and he empowered AM through his writing. He has had a lasting impact because we still read his works.
